It gives you a bunch of useful tools like templates, page history, comments, mentions, permissions, and real-time collaboration, so it works well for things like meeting notes, onboarding docs, procedures, or even mapping out a project. What's nice is that you can attach files straight onto a page, which means you don't have to hunt around for that one PDF — everything's right there with the discussion around it. And if your team's already using Jira, the integration is a huge bonus. It does take a bit of setup at first to get the workspace organized, but once that's done, day-to-day use feels pretty smooth and straightforward. > > **Cons**: Honestly, the more content you add, the harder it gets to navigate. Without clear naming rules and a bit of regular tidying up, spaces quickly turn into a mess of duplicate pages and outdated info. And search doesn't always bring up what you actually need first. I've also run into a few glitches—formatting quirks, trouble with large tables, attachments acting up, and copy-paste weirdness. You can export and convert files, but the Word or PDF versions don't always keep the original layout intact, which is a bit frustrating. Feature-wise, it covers most of what a team needs to set up an internal knowledge base and collaborate on shared docs. Creating standard pages is simple enough, and the templates are a nice starting point for newcomers. But when you get into more complex page layouts, permissions, or workspace structures, there’s a learning curve. File sharing works well when you want to keep documents close to the projects or procedures they relate to. That said, Confluence shines more as a collaborative documentation tool than as a full-blown file manager. The file conversion feature is handy for basic exports, but if you’re exporting Word or PDF files from pages with lots of tables, macros, or embedded content, you might need to fix the formatting manually. Support and online documentation are usually helpful for common questions. However, when you run into more complex permission, technical, or billing issues, it can take a while to get things sorted out. I’ve hit a few bugs here and there—mostly around formatting, editor behavior, and navigation—but nothing that stopped me from using it for very long. In terms of value, it’s a reasonable choice for teams that really live in Confluence as their main knowledge hub, especially if you’re already using Jira.
