Skype
About Skype
Skype is a Microsoft tool for phone calls, video conferencing, chats, and messaging. The VoIP program is preinstalled on many Windows systems, and the basic version can be used free of charge. For business users, Skype offers only basic functions.
Skype has a number of other functions in addition to VoIP telephony to other Skype users, landlines, or cellular networks. Users can exchange messages and send files via Messenger. Conferences can be held with or without a video stream. The number of participants is limited to 50. In addition, Skype offers functions for screen sharing and meetings, a customizable interface, and a contact book. There is a scheduler for appointments so meetings can be time-limited.
Skype also offers integrated translation software. This can broadcast live conversations in another language. The translator waits for a sentence to finish, and then translates it as a subtitle. Users can be invited by phone, email, or link. There are also functions for surveys, recording, and private chats. The program complies with in-force data protection regulations. Data is protected with 256-bit TLS 1.2 encryption.

Overall I would like to recommend this software as part of your communication with the clients, its easy to use and decent. When I am using this software its king of professional because it offers easy to understand function and clear audio and video in times of conference meetings.
Pros
In my job we usually use this software to communicate with the clients for their concerns and request, Skype is one of the recommended software for communication for me because it has the professionalism and decent concept. Also it's easy to retrieve files and images because of the features it has. Also this is useful in times of conference call and meetings.
Cons
I would like to rest to lengthen the file and image displays sometimes files are removed within a months but sometimes we need to backtrack a file and we cannot download the files itself because its already deleted.

Classic conversation but the app is heavy
Reviewed on 26/11/2024
Pros
It's been around for a long time and works across a range of devices and scenarios, even to POTS.
Cons
The interface (and the app) is getting heavier. It is not trivial to keep it running unless we use it all the time.

I have used it when the Business side needs to connect with IT folks such as myself, otherwise I avoid it and use Teams
Pros
It's simple and easy to use. The interface is much like older chats like AOL, etc.
Cons
It doesn't do screen share very well and the call quality is usually subpar compared to newer offerings such as Teams and Zoom.

My overall experience with Skype is through the roof. It’s my go to software rather than Zoom.
