And I don't understand that because the equity style box is well explained. Also there are some many options it takes quite a while, at least for myself, to get to a consistent report that would could be used a majority of the time. Now having that flexiblity is awesome for the special sitautions where either the client makes a specific request for some information or the circumstances dictate it. > > Overall, I find it very helpful. I find the performance tool to be very effective in sifting through some of the performance related commentary that wholesalers provide to get the "true facts" of the situation. It is not that they are necessarily lying but they are presenting their products in the best possible light and if you don't ask the right question they may omitt to fill it in. I particularly like the comparison report, as it clearly highlights the key differences between a client’s existing portfolio and the recommended portfolio. It makes the information easy for clients to understand and helps demonstrate the value of the recommendation, which can be very effective in winning new business. > > **Cons**: I would like to see the fund code displayed directly on the reports. This would make it much easier to implement the recommendations without having to go back into Morningstar to locate the applicable fund codes. I would also really value having both the Morningstar Star Rating and Medalist Rating displayed on the reports. These are very important to my business. When designing portfolios, presenting recommendations, and earning a client’s trust, I speak to these ratings quite frequently. Having them incorporated directly into the report would help reinforce the quality of the investments being recommended. Similarly, I would love to see recent Lipper Fund Awards highlighted for any funds included in the recommended portfolio. These types of independent ratings, recognitions, and awards tend to resonate with clients and can give them additional confidence and comfort when considering an investment recommendation. Lastly, I think it would be incredibly valuable if Morningstar could provide an overall portfolio rating or scorecard—for example, A+, A, A-, B+, etc. Ideally, this could incorporate factors such as fund quality, diversification, risk-adjusted performance, fees, and the overall construction of the portfolio. Right now, it can be difficult for a client to look at a portfolio and truly understand whether what they currently own—or what is being recommended to them—is a strong, high-quality portfolio. A simple overall score, supported by Morningstar's underlying research and analytics, could make that much easier for clients to understand. I believe these additions would make the reports even more powerful, particularly for advisors using them to communicate recommendations and demonstrate value to clients. I would also say that the annual cost is expensive for an individual advisor. Perhaps it should be considered that the cost be lower for a single advisor and higher for a Team with multiple advisors and associates. > > I do quite like the Direct Advisory Suite.
