About LibreOffice

LibreOffice is a cloud-based and on-premise suite of applications designed to help businesses, charities, and government organizations create, edit, and manage documents, spreadsheets, presentations, graphs, drawings, mathematical formulas, and more. Its autocorrect dictionary allows users to identify typing or spelling mistakes across multiple languages on a centralized platform.

Data miners can use LibreOffice's built-in wizards, template repository, and formatting capabilities to create and adjust content on spreadsheets including backgrounds, borders, and other elements in collaboration with multiple users and save or export documents in ODS, Microsoft Excel, or PDF format. The Impress platform helps businesses edit, organize, outline, and view content, notes, or slides, add animations and effects to presentations and utilize the font works tool to build 2D or 3D images from text. The software also lets managers create or design graphics, diagrams, technical drawings, posters, flowcharts, photo albums, and brochures.

LibreOffice supports various file formats such as DOC, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, ODF, PDF, and more. Supervisors can also embed pie, 2D, 3D, and column, among other charts into documents, spreadsheets, presentations, or drawings according to individual requirements.

Pros

I think the most useful thing I like about LibreOffice is the portability of the entire platform, easy to download, easy to install in any OS, and easy to execute and start working.

Cons

I think they have a slow updating team, the official product releases a lot of new functions and features, but LibreOffice could improve a lot in this department.

I've been using LibreOffice as an alternative to Microsoft 365 products since they are not available on Linux. LibreOffice is really good, the performance is great and does all necessary functions.

Pros

The software is easy to install, it's light and fast, the interface is similar to other similar products, all features are easy to find.

Cons

Some feature icons are too small in my opinion.

Compared to other solutions miserable. Development both on functionality and user experience seem to have stalled two decades ago. There is very little reality check going on.

Pros

After many years of using it has most but not all features an office solution would require

Cons

There is hardly any development towards an optimal user experience. It seems developers are developing for their own narrow minded use cases and forget the world is out there.

Libreoffice is my go to application if I want to create an extensive spreadsheet. It is one of the best word processors around with excellent layout abilities, has a great presentation app and even has some database abilities. I now use it as a total replacement for MS Office and find it more nimble and easier to use.

Pros

Free
Feature packed and 95%+ MS office compatible.
Nimble for such a extensive suite
Multi-platform - Linux, Mac, Windows
Rock solid - stable and cutting edge versions available

Cons

Some ease of use is sacrificed for power, not the best for basic documents/
Reliant on Collabora mobile or MS compatibility on Android and Ios
