EpicCare
About EpicCare
EpicCare is an EMR solution for large healthcare organizations and academic medical centers which is built to store extensive and complex medical records and data. The solution’s advanced features and functionalities include a smart workflow design, chart review, order management, and documentation. EpicCare helps bring together clinical and revenue cycle management in order to enhance patient health care delivery, and simplify admin tasks for bills, invoices, and payments.
Epic's modular health recording solution includes predictive analytics and embedded smart decision support tools which are helpful for physicians when documenting patient sessions, such as in taking symptom notes, and indicating possible outcomes based on records. EpicCare helps physicians coordinate with external providers in order to help with resolving care gaps, and apply cost efficient treatments. Users are able to consolidate patients' clinic bills and outstanding balances into a single statement for quicker payments, as well as track finances and manage the revenue cycle. Physicians and staff are able to work simultaneously on the same documents thanks to EpicCare’s multi-user capability, and because the platform is web-based, both physicians and patients can access important clinical data at any time, from anywhere.
Through EpicCare’s MyChart feature, patients can access their personal and family health information, as well as message doctors, complete questionnaires, attend e-visits, schedule appointments, and more. New patients are able to register via online scheduling, and patients in the hospital can reach out to their care team via tablet, as well as review their schedule, request help, and access personalized patient education materials.

Overall, Epic is the best EMR I've use to date and would love to see it used in more hospital settings.
Pros
I have seen both the business and user side of Epic. As a CNA, and nursing student, I have been using Epic for sometime. I love it. As someone who has also used other EMR services, I can say with confidence that Epic Systems is by far the easiest and most customizable. It does take time to navigate, but all EMR services do. Epic has great support, its easy to use, and has great customizable ability.
Cons
EpicCare EMR is pricey. A lot of hospitals don't use Epic for that exact reason. However, it is well worth the price.

Epic

Pros
There are a ton of different functions within Epic. One of the things I like the most is that there are multiple ways to do almost everything, so each person can find the way that works best for them and their job function. Some parts are customizable, such as which tabs/buttons you have along the top of your screen. I like that you can take away what you don't use.
Cons
There is definitely a learning curve to Epic. It can be very overwhelming with all of the different functions and figuring out which ones you need and which ones you don't. I feel that the workflow isn't the smoothest, and there are entirely too many clicks for what should be simple, quick tasks.

Pros
That I have access to other EMR’s through Epic. That Epic automatically capitalizes the first word of a sentence.
Cons
Minor complaint- the .HM phrases for some things pull in the date it was resulted instead of the date it was done.Major complaint- When I came back from my lunch break at 1:00 after seeing patients all morning, Epic had disabled my user account. I had received a warning that my password was going to expire in 1 day when I logged in this morning but did not get the usual pop up you get from other sites prompting you to enter your old password, etc. After 2 phone calls with no resolution, someone calls me back an hour later while I’m in the middle of an annual exam using a printed note and the guy tells me that my Epic account expired years ago. I started using Epic 3/2019 and it worked fine until lunch. Expired? Huh? I handed my cellphone to my office manager. I think she was on the phone for over an hour. The account of an active physician should NEVER be disabled on a whim or a random expiration date that one of Epic’s forms asks for.

Great experience since we were able to scan all the documents into system for the doctors & staff
Pros
Great for medical records since we were getting rid of paper filing
Cons
Nothing really except the system became slow. Maybe because of the work/paper load.
