Hats Off To Sharepoint

SharePoint is a robust platform, but it still lacks certain features that could enhance its functionality. Additionally, better native support for offline access and mobile device optimization could make it more versatile. Advanced task management and project planning tools are also features that some users find lacking, desiring more seamless integration. Lastly, stronger data analytics and reporting capabilities would be valuable for organizations seeking more in-depth insights from their SharePoint data

Pros

SharePoint offers numerous benefits, including streamlined collaboration, centralized document management, enhanced security, and powerful integration with Microsoft 365 applications. Its ability to facilitate team communication, content sharing, and version control makes it an essential tool for boosting productivity and efficiency in organizations.

Cons

I would like more intuitive user interfaces and simplified navigation to improve the overall user experience. The absence of intuitive user interfaces and simplified navigation in SharePoint can significantly hinder the user experience. Users may find it challenging to locate and access the features and content they need, leading to frustration and reduced efficiency. The complexity of the platform can result in longer learning curves, requiring more extensive training and support. This lack of user-friendliness can deter adoption and limit the platform's effectiveness in facilitating collaboration and document management.

It is clunky and loads a lot of directories within a single path making it hard to travel between spaces.
External connections are buggy and users do not see updates sometimes.

Thanks to Sharepoint, you can create workspaces for different areas of your organization, allowing you to collaborate on different data and file formats, with their different versions and comment options.

Pros

It is an excellent tool for collaborating with various work teams, and you can easily locate documents and information.

Cons

Sometimes access and editing permissions do not work properly because they are not updated or replicated in a timely manner, which means that the roles and permissions need to be applied again.

Overall, I have solved more common business problems with SharePoint than with any other tool.

Pros

I hear lots of people groan about SharePoint, yet I find over and over that it makes it incredibly easy to put together useful tools, collaborate, integrate, automate, and all at a very reasonable cost. Being tightly integrated with M365, it just makes sense to take advantage of all it has to offer.

Cons

I will admit, sometimes the customization limits can be annoying, but this is far outweighed by the usefulness of the platform. It also ensures fewer things break as new updates are pushed.

I still love the platform. It's relatively easy to use the Graph API to open an Excel spreadsheet to pull data without opening the spreadsheet assuming it is the right format. The platform is relatively defect free. From time to time, you need to force reindex of your objects

Pros

For document store and creating pages and portals, there's no simpler platform to use.

Cons

The permissioning system has some antiquated rough edges. There's no page that tells you exactly what the user has access to. These are some basic things that really tooted me the wrong way. It's a mature product, but it lacks some steps in the lifecycle management of data.

I think Microsoft Sharepoint is a a great collaborative tool for teams to use in our organization and I have found it to great way to upload photos, forms, and documents to share with colleagues. I also like that you can store documents, excel sheets, and powerpoint presentations and edit in real time.

Pros

I like that Microsoft Sharepoint is easy to navigate, and it's easy to create folders and new file destinations. I also like how you can move files and upload them easily, and generate links to share inside and outside of your organization. With our organization being almost completely remote, Sharepoint makes collaboration easy with all of its collaboration tools.

Cons

I don't like that sometimes Sharepoint can experience unexpected outages, and Sharepoint forms can be clunky and slow to load.

Overall Sharepoint is ok, it works, it's simple to use even for less tech savvy people and integrates with all Microsoft products but honestly I feel it's lacking and needs more features.

Pros

Microsoft SharePoint provides an easy out of the box solution for internal portals to share within your organization. If you are in Microsoft's eco system which most organizations are then it's easy to seamlessly integrate Sharepoint with everything else, share news, files, etc. in one place.

Cons

Customization level of Sharepoint is very lacking, as a web developer I wish there was more advanced options to customize the design, feel, look of your Sharepoint pages but it is fairly limited unfortunately.

Overall, the complaints are few & far between. They really only appear once we start to edit web pages with features and functionality beyond general content display and use. But the storing of files and distribution of content is easy and seamless to whatever existing processes we have.

Pros

SharePoint is our agreed-upon tool for posting documentation and videos out to the entire organization. Whether it's onto pages intended for only our internal coaching cohort, or sharing links to key content items with HR or Intern Comms, it's a ubiquitous tool for a very good reason. File upload time is fast, as is adding basic widgets for content display.

Cons

Once you get past basic webpage editing, SharePoint is not always most user-friendly of tools. Fortunately, for our purposes, the basic editing abilities on pages are all that is needed. And for general file storage, it functions very efficiently.
