Being a Unix-based operating system, it can be used as a hacking tool. This has a great impact in terms of software security in the company.

Pros

It has a wide number of applications for security diagnosis. It can lead to notable advances and improvements in computer security.

Cons

The integration is a bit tricky. Apart from this there is nothing else that can bother me.

Simple Versatile Solution for Network Security Automation

It's a life saver for network security team. We have many cases where we need to restore or rollback to the previous backups/versions and Backbox successfully achieves the tasks without any problem.

Pros

Automation and Integrations is the key point in the product. Any networking vendor can be integrated through the product. We've many custom products that's integrated even not on the list. Pricing is suitable for our company.

Cons

Event and incident management is lacking. We have other solutions permit incident management. We have shifts 7x24. Admin or operator can't get the ownership of the alert and work on the alert to solve issue. Therefore, metrics are lost or can't be measurable.

Alternatives Considered

NetBackup and VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery

Reasons for Switching to BackBox

Backbox learns and knows the products which have integrated. Other products are not aware of the integrated system. They can only restore from the backup or return from the snapshot. Backbox has the tasks which can automate the daily processes others don't, they are just classical backup solutions.

Backbox is my favorite product. While integrating the devices or troubleshooting a problem it always improve my knowledge. On the other side, it is a must product for all kind of facilities. It is the most needed product however, I always wish to not need it!

Pros

The customization feature is the best feature on Backbox. Because we can customize the scripts to prevent any kind of simple problem. Also the administrator can observe and improve their skills about a product while managing Backbox backups processes.

Cons

Not least but can be considered as a feature request; the scheduling part can be handled by in another manner. When we set a schedule, we can assign products to that specific schedule and they start to run altogether. That cause a peak on CPU and RAM and then goes to a idle state. Instead, it can be a task sequence manner, which at the end of a task, the following task will be triggered. It may reduce the system requirements and improve the system preformance.

BackBox: A lot of automation for not a lot of money

First, I need to say that BackBox support is top notch. They've never let me down when I've needed a custom job created no matter how complicated I make it. The very few times I've run into an issue, they have always had it fixed the same day. BackBox as a product has saved us countless hours in deploying our Juniper SRX and EX devices. We have several hundred deployed and with a few clicks I can make changes across the board. We also use BackBox for backing up all of our configs in the event of a failure. If we do have a device go down, it take just minutes to push out the config to bring it back up. BackBox has been a lifesaver and I would highly recommend this product to anyone needing network automation. it's easy to use, you can't beat the price and support is excellent.

Pros

BackBox allows us to rapidly push out changes or pull inventory reports for hundreds of devices we have deployed. Templates are easy to set up or clone if I need to make slight changes depending on device models. The interface is straight forward and features are easy to find.

Cons

I can't think of any cons that we have run across since using the product.

Pros

first of all what i really like about backbox is the rapidity because it is based i guess on a fast xubuntu and also the organisation of tools with nomination of each block which i really like a lot

Cons

I will put it only like a motivation for the team here I hope they will add more penetration tools like the ones we can find only on other distributions without mentioning names
