 MakeShift is designed to give employees more control over schedules to increase employee engagement in the scheduling process. Using the mobile or web app, they can set their availability, trade or drop/cover shifts with co-workers, pick up more work when it’s available, and more\!

 By giving employees visibility and control over their schedules while on the go, MakeShift helps reduce absenteeism and cut unplanned overtime. Instead of manually trying to keep shifts filled and pick up the slack left by absent staff, managers can focus on their work knowing that they have the right people, in the right place, at the right time

 Creating a schedule and keeping it filled is tedious and time-consuming. MakeShift has several features that work together to help managers fill shifts quickly. Available shifts can be created from either the web or mobile app. Once you’ve entered the necessary information, including date, start time, notes, and more. Managers can notify either all or select employees about the shift and the employees can request it directly. Upon approval, the schedule is immediately updated and employees are notified whether they did or did not get the new shift. 

 MakeShift updates scheduled shifts, availability, and other information in real-time, ensuring managers and employees are all working with the same, up-to-date information. Supervisors can also set custom notifications, so teams will be alerted as soon as anything changes. Additionally, administrators can quickly sync work schedules with Apple, Google, and other calendars.

 Go beyond workforce scheduling. MakeShift lets professionals send notes to all, some, or individual employees who will instantly be notified when a new message arrives. With built-in announcements, the staff will be more informed and overall company communication will improve.

 MakeShift Live is a mobile app designed for managers on the go. The iOS and Android app allow schedulers to manage approvals and schedule right from the tablet or mobile device. The app frees managers from their desks, letting them manage their staff on the move, while keeping them up-to-speed on who’s working, who’s available, who’s late, and who’s off.

> **Pros**: The most impactful part of makeshift for our hospital is that employees can see there schedule and request without calling the staffing office or contacting the unit. they are able to switch  shifts and request trades in the app. we are also able to send announcements and individual messages if need be.

> **Cons**: I would really like to be able to see the history or shifts that have been removed from employee's schedule  and also be able to  re enable a trade if you accidently decline and forgot the dates
