Overall, Employment Hero is a great platform for any small to medium size business to use. The ability to apply self guided implementation to a system that is easy to use is a huge benefit.

Pros

Although we utilise both the Payroll and HR Platforms. The Payroll platform is by far the most user friendly payroll platform I have seen and used to date.

Cons

The Payroll and HR platforms, although linked, have small discrepancies of information and other features that do not sync and/or match which can sometimes make navigating the platforms or updating information a little difficult.

It's been a sharp learning curve, but appreciate EH's help to educate me on how the system works, how it benefits me and how my company can cut down time and improve better time efficiency

Pros

Very helpful with initial set up, outstanding customer service. Some glitches here and there but constantly growing and improving the system day by day.

I also appreciate that payroll becomes a lot simpler now, especially when they want to get their payment breakdown when it comes to their salary, allowance and commissions.

Cons

The flowover from the two websites and certain limitations because of the linkage of 2 websites. I would appreciate if more features were available in the app instead of just desktop/website version.

Not an all in one product - you'll still need an ATS and LMS

Pros

The Swag app is very easy to use especially for our employees who don't work in front of the PC. It would be great if employees could do everything off the app. Wish it would work for the learning module. The app is not entirely comprehensive. Customer support was awesome. Now it seems harder to actually get to an actual person. You're referred to HeroAI with no way to get passed it to a real person.

Cons

EH is completely let down by their learning management system which is a GO1 product. GO1 is a nightmare to use. The UI looks dated. Can't easily search for a course you've created. The reports are not useful. To get reports for multiple courses, you have to run one for each individual course. While you're creating a course and your mouse runs off the form, it completely disappears with your form. Amongst other things. The process is not user friendly.

Also, the recruitment function in EH is not great so you really need an ATS on top of this. It's not intuitive. You can't preview Word documents so you really need to download every Word CV to have a look at them. Not intuitive in how you move from CV to CV. It's not a all in one system.

We also use EH's sister company Employment Innovations for payroll processing. They have made multiple mistakes. When confronted the impression I get is they're always defensive. The attitude is not "No worries, we'll work together and get this sorted" but "it must be something you did".

Employment Hero is such a vital software for companies to employ due to the feasibility and I also like the playful purple aesthetic of the Software. Feels sophisticated and fun at the same time.

Pros

The interface of Employment Hero is very easy to navigate. Submitting annual leaves to the company I work in through this software is a breeze. Keeping a track of the amount of Leaves I have is very convenient. Additionally I like how it is able to detect which days are considered leave and not. Also I like the ability to see my Pay slips through Employment Hero.

Cons

The company tried implementing employees interaction within this software, however it didn't function that well.

First few years were great, great features and customization. The last couple have seen it deteriorate considerably. To be honest, I wouldn't be to fussed about the other features that were promised, such as dimensions and journals, being a mess if the support and customer service was adequate. Go with one of the others, you'll thank me later

Pros

It has so much potential or had so much potential. The inhouse customisation was brilliant. Use to have great customer service.
It seems like each update they do makes it worse. Definitely not suited to slightly complicated to complicated businesses. I have 15 years experience in payroll and never had so many issues with getting support.

Cons

Support - Takes days, sometimes weeks for urgent replies in the payroll system. Cannot help confirm compliance when the ATO comes knocking. Basically said too bad so sad.
The reporting features are terribly limited, doesn't calculate payments made in same pay periods like Xero and a lot of the other available software. Requires manual calculation of Tax, Super, Leave accruals when doing Adhoc payruns. Leaves room for human error and is thus at risk of none compliance.

Experience with "key pay" was great and I myself configured and rolled out the new payroll system. It performed very well and now I have to look for something else has since "Employment hero" took over, it has been very slow and unreliable. Sometimes my staff do not get paid just because the payroll system is so slow that the pay run is not finished, and we do not meet cut-off times. Pathetic.

Pros

Customizable. user friendly interface, Ease of use and easy to coach to new payroll person.

Cons

Too slow, almost every Monday. Therefore, no matter how good your product is, if it's slow and frustrating, then it has already failed. It was good when it used to be called "key pay". I guess expansion cannot necessarily be sustained.

Pros

Payroll is quick and easy. It is very difficult to get hold of anyone though - logging a support call is very cumbersome as though you are encouraged never to do it.

Cons

The support is dreadful - very difficult indeed. But the main issue is that when annual leave is booked in EH it comes over to Microsoft Outlook one day out. So if an employee books leave until 22 July, the leave is correct in EH but it comes into Outlook Calendar until 23 July. So managers have consistently wrong holiday dates for their employees.

A huge waste of my time and resources! went through all this ridiculous training (4-6 weeks of module after module and calls etc) on the system only for most of it to not even work or be used.
We're cancelling the product and now having to look for a new payroll system because they've ruined keypay since they took ownership too.

Pros

I liked the idea that our onboarding could be hosted in one place and seemlessly integrated with our payroll platform.

Cons

I hate that it reverts to obsolete settings and constantly messes with the payroll integration. We've actually had to turn it off.
The help desk is worse than useless. their 2fa is buggy and you can't get hold of anyone when you need to.
Employees don't like to be told that their pay can't be processed because we've lost access to the program and no one will either restore it or call us back.

Pros

The way EH system is built to streamline the HR processes (i.e hiring, onboarding, payroll, etc). It helped us save a lot of time and resources.

Cons

the leave balances. They only recount after the payroll is done. It would help if employees can view their balances right after the leaves are approved.

Pros

Employment Hero is the whole 'kitchen sink' and more. The ease at which you get things done is impressive.

Cons

On the Organisation Employee List, 'pending' employees are shown. It would be ideal if you could choose whether the candidate is 'pending' or 'active' because some of our recruitment is highly confidential.

My experience with EH has bee great and very satisfactory. I will recommend this software to anyone wanting to make a difference in Human Resources processes in their company

Pros

Employment hero is user friendly and so easy to use. With the click of a button you can automate a variety of Human Resources and Payroll process within you company.
The customisation and ready to use functionality of this software allows you to implement this internally without any need for third party specialist.

Cons

Inability and restriction on scheduling report, announcement etc means you cannot customise this .
It will be great if more research and development is done on scheduling reports, announcements etc .

Reasons for Switching to Employment Hero

As a small business the easy of implementation was the key selling point. For a finance and HR person to implement this by themselves and run and customise it within a week with no need to have third party specialists is the winner. And the price is great value for money.

It's been great and now that is in place we haven't looked back, however onboarding was a difficult process

Pros

HR coupled with Payroll covers many boxes that we have to deal with. User-friendly for our team members and the transparency creates confidence across the company. We like the adaptability of the development team and the improvements we've seen over the past two years. As a whole, it has produced efficiencies across the team for payroll & compliance that ahs been well worth the effort.

Cons

We implemented the system in mid-2018. We found at that time that creating payroll rules when you're outside of an award can be very challenging, especially when you have to learn how the categories affect each other and you're trying to mesh everything to existing agreements. The platform could do with information links for each step that detail the exact impact of changing each rule. Sometimes a change could create a cascade of unintended consequences (this may have changed). If we had to go back fix something now, we'd have to relearn why certain things were done.

If a seamless user experience and reliable software that's easy to use is important to you, do not choose Employment Hero. It has been working OK (just) since ironing out most of the problems but not work the time and money to get to this stage.

The HR and Payroll software are clearly sold separately because the look and feel is different and you need to instruct managers to perform actions in one platform, despite being able to do it in another, causing confusion.

Pros

The ability for employees to update their own personal information. Contract templates are helpful for those who don't have an internal legal or large HR department.

Cons

The integration between the two products - HR and payroll is awful. They often don't communicate with each other seamlessly and you are required to learn by trial and error due to the poor deployment processes and cumbersome workflow regarding setup. Customer Service is helpful most of the time but you will be passed through numerous people who do not explain the fundamental use of all the features. Too much emphasis is on knowing the hundreds of pages of instructions and features. Timekeeping apps (Clock Me In/Workzone) are simply terrible.

Employment Hero is easy to use, keeps everything in one place - updates policies automatically - plus there is the added bonus of all the benefits

I don't like how Employment Hero doesn't communicate back and forth with Xero, its only one way and is frustrating as it doesn't always work when staff update EH files

I love that we have an end to end HRIS solution within Employment Hero, we can manage all aspects from Recruitment to onboarding, offboarding, asset management, recruitment, training, goal setting, performance management and compliance.

Cons

Reporting is not as savy as I would have liked.

The onboarding was the main function, and it doesn't work very well

Cons

A few weeks after entering the contract, the company re-vamped the whole site and gave my employees a totally new app. All very confusing having to re-learn the layout etc. Then they 'Bully" me into having to complete their requirements or face an increase in the cost of the contract - at the same time reminding me that I have signed up for 12 months.

The set up process is well worth the time invested for the efficiency that follows.
All staff have embraced it, with few problems.
The system is transparent; all documents can be signed from any location; any additional documents can be added immediately and read and signed off by staff on the same day; it also serves as great filing sytem and has the ability to remind staff of overdue certificates; licences etc.

Pros

The program is very time efficient; with staff using timesheets instead of manual timebooks; leave request updating on a calendar automatically once approved etc; quick facilitation of documents between employer and employee.
Onboarded new employees is simple.
The process from sending out a letter of offer and associated paperwork; to the employee registering without any problem before commencing with us, has been seamless.
Other quality feature are reminders for expired certificates and licences; birthdays; probations etc.

Cons

Syncing to MYOB AccountRight:
Currently RealHR does not sync correctly with MYOB AccountRight due to the rounding of wages.
For e.g:
Employee 1 gets paid $55000 per annum or $27.834 per hour. (three decimal point rounding)
All employees are set up on hourly pay basis as this way personal and holiday leave etc can be entered each week.
If I set up employees under Salary pay basis I cannot enter entitlements.
Real HR only rounds to two decimal points and then when it syncs with MYOB it throws the annual amount of $55000 out in MYOB due to the difference in rounding and this upsets Employees when they see the change in their annual wage amount on their payslip.
Time sheets:
I would like to see an extra box that can stipulate if on any particular day whether the day is OTE or annual leave or personal leave or even a mix of OTE; annual leave; personal leave etc. At this stage you can only stipulate this in notes and sometimes it is easily missed.

Feature packed software for a HR platform

Pros

I'm pretty pleased with it as a whole. With the HR platform, I can aggregate rules and processes for all staff and rest easy knowing that they comply with all applicable laws. It's an excellent payroll solution. The pay stubs are detailed, removing any uncertainty and ensuring that employees are satisfied. I have no hesitation in recommending the program to any SME entrepreneur looking to run their company more efficiently.

Cons

There are a lot of well-thought-out functions, and the major drawback is the time and expense of custom contracts and policies are likely to be an aspect of the past. The primary issue is that there's no one-click option to navigate back to the application form after seeing or emailing an agreement to a target; instead, you must do another search or switch to the browser.

The fact we can have up to 350 people inducted and work ready over our peak season the thing we loved most was the ease in which we could do multiple pays per week for the different divisions we have, and the fact employees can access their payslips, leave balances etc is just awesome.
We most definitely saved hours pay day by using this system very happy we made the change to Employment Hero.

Pros

We found the system super easy to use once set up had been completed it was a very simple process to move over to Employment Hero - We use a lot of seasonal workers through Cherry season and this system made it so much easier for employees as well as the admin team.

Cons

Not so much as liking least but it just took a while to work out which information was where in the menu
