> Order Management Software is a digital solution for managing orders, inventory, and fulfilment across multiple sales channels and locations. Also known as order management systems (OMSs), they can track order and the information it yields throughout their lifecycle, from order entry to fulfilment and after-sales service. With an order management system, businesses can gain real-time insights into sales and inventory levels while providing customers with accurate delivery estimates. Such multi-dimensional tools can manage customer data, sales channels, product information, inventory, suppliers, and shipping operations. eCommerce and retail companies use order processing software to track inventory across warehouses, combine order data from various channels, and coordinate with logistics companies to deliver their products. Aside from direct-to-customer online orders, it can also support in-store purchases through point of sale (POS) tools and hybrid fulfilment, like buy online and pick up in-store (BOPIS) functionality. Usually, an OMS system can also accept payments in various currencies from customers worldwide, print packing lists, shipping labels, and return labels. B2B order management software can feed order information to distributors and third-party logistics (3PL) companies. Users can maintain a record of customers, their locations, and lifetime values. A sales order management system can help businesses pick, pack, and ship more efficiently to improve order accuracy, prevent stockouts, forecast inventory levels, expand internationally, and quickly meet customer expectations. Typical features of order management solutions are order tracking, shipping management, and returns management. Many order management applications also feature third-party integrations with logistics, communication, and accounting tools. Order Management tools are akin to eCommerce Software, though they usually support offline transactions. As they track inventory across locations, they also relate to Inventory Management Software and Supply Chain Management Software.
